Raising a child, a child of your wishes is quite demanding. Unless you are a good, loving and caring parent, you cannot think of grooming your child to be a perfect citizen.
After all what is Good Parenting and what makes one a good parent? It is hard to find definitions for good parenting and to find what contributes to it. Good parenting involves developing good habits of love, care, honesty, generosity, a sense of responsibility in your siblings.Â
Love your child and let your kid have the feeling of being loved, which no doubt is the root to all Good Parenting. Your children should know that you are giving your time and attention. Love them unconditionally and let them feel that you are loving them from the depths of your heart.Â
Good Parenting also demand you to be a good listener. Listen to your child though you may have hundreds of other preoccupations, which makes your children think that he is being attended to. Involve with your children more and more so that he knows that you are with him always.Â
Managing a child’s behaviour at a very young age is all the important. The behaviour that is cultivated in him in his early days would follow him in his life. So it is better that you set some rules for his waking up, playtime, sleeping, reading, watching TV and meeting friends. You should always know where your child is, with whom he is and what he is doing. These traits can also develop in him a sense of self-control. Meanwhile, he should also not have a feeling that you are encroaching upon his independence. Let your children have their privacy.Â
Give your child some responsibilities. Let them make the bed, clean the house and water the garden, which makes them grow as responsible persons in life. Try to avoid harsh disciplines but calmly and lovingly explain the good and the bad. A physical punishment can be even worse, just punish with a loving heart.Â
Always keep in mind that your children should think that he is being treated respectfully. Speak to him politely and respect his opinion. This can, no doubt, help in creating a sense of respect.Â
It is also good that you sit together with your children for sometime, be it during the dinner or when reading or when watching TV. This togetherness would develop a love towards family, which can groom your children to be a perfect family loving man or woman.Â
The images and ideas that a child sees in his childhood have immense impact when he grows up. Good parenting also makes it necessary that you have to control these images and ideas that could influence your children.Â
If you have more than one child, it is better no to show favouritism. Try to avoid it as each child thinks that he/she is your favourite. All these make Good Parenting. More than anything, you have to be a good friend, teacher and parent.
